I’m well aware that you’re getting ready to blame “Bernie Bros” if/when Trump wins again, by claiming that sitting out the general election enables that victory. What I’m telling you is that Biden himself is doing way more to enable another Trump win than these potential non-voters.

How do I know? Because Barack Obama won by a landslide in 2008 even though 15% of Hillary supporters voted for John McCain — compared to 12% of Bernie supporters who voted for Trump in 2016. Non-voters and cross-over voters exist in all elections. It’s a non-issue for strong campaigns, and a weak campaign’s go-to excuse.

If you think Joe Biden doesn’t know this, you don’t know the first thing about politics, however much you claim to know about government. You’re letting him use you to scapegoat me. The least he could do is cut you a check.

Understand that Obama ran as a solid progressive — that is, he gave people something to look forward to beyond politics as usual. Bill Clinton did the same. That’s not only how you win a campaign, but how you set the bar high so you can negotiate if you want to get any part of your agenda passed.

Yet Biden does the exact opposite by running as the moderate, just as Hillary Clinton did (twice!), and as John Kerry did before her.

Bernie supporters have already gone above and beyond to help save this country, only to have their voices muffled by the DNC, with help from mainstream media. No matter what happens in November, there’s no way you can say Bernie supporters did nothing to fight evil — real evil, like war and poverty, not just orange boogie men.

If Joe Biden becomes the Democratic nominee, then loses in November, it won’t be because good people didn’t vote, but because he failed to earn the votes of those good people.
